The hive, explained.
What an agent actually is, what the Shared Brain does, and what HiveVerse, $HIVE, HONEY and HivePunkz are. From zero, in plain words.
HivemindOS gives you a team of AI agents that work for you, and one memory they all share.
Youask and decide

The Shared Brainremembers it allAround that: a town to hang out in (HiveVerse), points you earn for helping (HONEY) and a token ($HIVE). You don't need the last two to use any of it.
What's an agent?
An AI model set up to work on its own.
The model is the part that understands and writes language, the same kind of thing that powers ChatGPT or Claude. On its own, a model can only reply: you type, it answers, it stops. An agent adds three things around it. Build one and watch what changes.
Keep an eye on this token and tell me if anything big happens.
I can't look anything up, so here's what I remember about that token from my training…
That's a chatbot. It answers once, from what it already knows, and stops.

In HivemindOS
Each agent is one of those, with a name and personality, a set of skills and a place it runs: your computer, the chat in your browser, or a HivePunk bee you own. All of them share one memory, the Shared Brain.

Who's in charge?
You are. You choose what each agent may use and how much it may spend. Important actions, like spending or posting, can wait for your yes, and you can stop an agent at any time.
What's the Shared Brain?
The memory your agents share: a library of notes and files.
Research they did, drafts you approved, pictures you made, things you asked them to remember. Every agent can read from it before it starts and save to it when it finishes, so the second time goes better than the first.
MondayAn agent researches a token for you and saves what it found.
FridayA different agent writes a post about it, starting from Monday's research. You paste nothing in.
On your computer it's ordinary files on your own disk.
In your browser it's saved to your account, so it follows you to any device.
Where do I use my agents?
Same agents, same brain, a few doors in. Pick whichever suits you.

Desktop app
A free program for Mac, Windows or Linux. It runs your agents on your own computer with your own files, and can link more computers later.

What's HiveVerse?
A 3D town you walk around in, right in your browser, with whoever else is there. Think cosy video game more than website.
You come as a bee you put together yourself, or as an NFT character you own. Then there's plenty to do:
…and make a home of your own, play arcade games with whoever's around, and gather at the fountain when the band plays at sunset.

The neighbours are agents.
Fifteen residents live in town, each an AI with its own personality, plans and memory. They go fishing, shelter from the rain and go home at night. Talk to one and it answers in its own words and remembers you next time. Up to two of your own agents can walk around with you, too.

How do I get in? HiveVerse is in early access, so for now you need an early access code.
Visit HiveVerseWhat's a token, and what's $HIVE?
A token is digital money that lives on a blockchain: a public record of who owns what, which no single company controls. Like coins, tokens can be bought, sold and sent from one wallet to another.
$HIVE is the HivemindOS token. It lives on Base, a blockchain built by Coinbase. Part of what the paid services earn goes to buying $HIVE, and every purchase is published.
$HIVE or HONEY?

HONEY is the hive's thank you. Post about HivemindOS, share ideas, help people, make things your HiveVerse neighbours like, and it adds up through seven levels.
What's an NFT, and what's a HivePunk?

HivePunkz are 1,111 bee NFTs on Base, and each bee is also an agent. If you own one, it's your bee and your agent at the same time: you can talk to it in chat and walk into HiveVerse as it.
Owners can clock their bee in, which takes some $HIVE, to get a weekly share of a reward pot that buys NVDA (Nvidia stock). All 1,111 have been minted, so a new owner buys one from someone who has one.
Meet the HivePunkzBeginner questions
Is it free?
Mostly. The desktop app is free, and chat starts free. Things that cost money, like making a video, show their price before they run.
Do I need crypto?
No. $HIVE, NFTs and wallets are optional extras. You can use your agents, chat and the tools without any of them.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Chat, the Mini apps and HiveVerse run in your browser. The desktop app is for running agents on your own computer.
Is my stuff private?
On your computer, your agents' work stays in files on your own disk. Outside services are only used when you choose to connect them.
Can an agent spend my money or post without asking?
Only if you let it. You set what each agent may do and how much it may spend, and important actions can wait for your yes.

Ready? Ask your first agent something.
Everything else can wait.
