Getting Started

HivemindOS gives you an assistant that helps you get work done across your apps and devices. Start with a question or a task. You can add more agents and customize how they work whenever you need to.

This page is your first ten minutes.

Start with a useful result

  1. Open the app and finish setup. A new installation opens on Home, with an assistant prepared for you. You do not need to choose its model or create a separate specialist before starting.
  2. Choose a task or write your own. Try Summarize a file, Make a document, Research a question, or Create a website. Suggestions fill in a request you can edit. Add any needed files, then press Start.
  3. Work in the conversation. Your assistant can ask a question, show progress, or request permission. Keep replying in the same conversation to refine the result.
  4. Return to your work. Your daily brief sits below the composer. Needs you lists what is waiting for your reply or review, and Recent reopens conversations along with what each one produced.
  5. Explore when you are ready. The tour is optional. Open Help for a walkthrough or an explanation of the current screen.

Choose how to work

Leave the conversation on Auto to get started. Choose Chat to discuss or research without making changes, Do to complete a task using your apps and files, or Create to make something you can preview and revise. Changing modes keeps the conversation together. Actions in Do, Create, and Auto still follow your permission settings.

Use Work for tasks you want to assign, track through stages, or review. Brain holds knowledge your agents can reuse. Alerts collects questions, approvals, and other items that need your attention.

Your devices and agents

Open My Hive to see your computers and the agents on them. It opens in Cards: one card per device, starting with the computer you are using. Select a card, or an agent on it, for its details and actions. Use Add device to connect another computer, or Add agent on a card to create another assistant.

The Devices view shows the same hive as large hexagons fitted to the window. Zoom in for easier reading, or select a device for full-size details. You can scroll, pan, and zoom; Auto fit restores automatic fitting. Next, Previous, and the page count let you browse larger groups of agents, and a device’s Needs your attention message includes agents on its other pages. The existing Hive and Classic layouts remain available.

Your wallet is already there

A new installation prepares an empty wallet and links it to your assistant. Agent wallet in Home’s daily brief shows its balance and whether spending is on. Spending starts off; adding funds and granting spending permission are separate choices. Additional agents use the shared wallet by default, and you can choose another wallet or No wallet during setup.

Make it yours

Select your assistant’s name at the top of Home to adjust it. In a conversation, Advanced reveals the model and other detailed controls. Select Keep visible to leave those controls open across app restarts.

Existing agents, settings, and starting-page preferences are preserved. Under Settings → Appearance → Starting page, choose Home, My Hive, or Where I left off.

When you see a number that “needs you”

My Hive shows a small “need you” counter. On a brand-new setup this usually just means a setup step is waiting to be finished — click it and follow the guided fix. It is a to-do list, not an alarm.

Help is always one click away

  • The ? button at the bottom of the sidebar opens Help: what the current screen is for, a getting-started checklist, a glossary of every hive word, and keyboard shortcuts.
  • “Explain this screen” inside Help asks your own hive to describe what you are looking at, in plain language.
